HISTORY

FYBY was started in 1998 by 20-year-old Douglas Fort and his friends, who were tired of the violence and it's effect in their community.

 

FYBY began by bringing together "warring" neighborhoods to play in a summer basketball league.

 

Soon Basketball was not enough, and the community needed a prescription for healing and an antidote to violent behavior.

 

Today, FYBY has grown into a community of young people, who are proactive in making "life giving choices." The FYBY leadership has a passion to work together to influence and direct young people who are likely to be involved in or affected by neighborhood violence.
